The French Film of the Month 26

For the ninth consecutive year, the “French Film of the Month” cycle is back in Portimão to celebrate the best of French film production. The initiative, which is the result of a partnership between the Alliance Française do Algarve and the Group of Friends of the Museum of Portimão (GAMP), aims to strengthen cultural ties with local associations and disseminate great successes in the “language of Molière” to the Algarve public.
The program also aims to attract the growing French community that resides in or visits the Algarve, offering an opportunity for cultural exchange and contact with regional history and heritage through the Museum’s space.
The 2026 edition brings together a diverse selection of seven films that represent the vitality of contemporary French cinema. The sessions always take place at 9:00 pm, in the Auditorium of the Museum of Portimão, with free admission and films subtitled in Portuguese.
The cycle begins on January 29 with the feature film “Une affaire de principe” (2024). A thriller directed by Antoine Raimbault, based on true events about a conspiracy in the European institutions in Brussels.
Until September, the public will also be able to watch the following films:
February 26 – “Le Royaume”, by Julien Colonna;
March 26 – “Le dernier des juifs”, by Noé Debré;
April 30 – “Le quatrième mur”, by David Oelhoffen;
May 28 – “Mélodie en sous-sol”, by Henri Verneuil;
