Exhibition “Symposia – Painting in Dialogue”

February 21 - April 19
Free

The Museum of Portimão opens on February 21, at 4:00 pm, the exhibition “Symposia – Painting in Dialogue”, an exhibition that will be on display until April 19 and which results from a curatorship of works produced during the five international painting symposiums already held in the city.

The exhibition brings together, in this way, works produced by 15 artists from different countries such as North Macedonia, Slovakia, Romania, Spain, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Poland and Portugal, and who were invited to participate in the five international painting symposiums that Cuneo-Sularte Associação Cultural promoted in partnership with the Municipality.

Being an initiative that distinguishes itself by privileging the collective creative process, when the works are observed as a whole, they transcend individuality to become testimonies of a common sharing. This is a characteristic that differentiates these symposia.

Curated by Arlindo Arez, the exhibition is produced by Cuneo-Sularte Associação Cultural in partnership with the Museum of Portimão. Assuming himself as a vital agent in cultural cooperation, he has in his curriculum eight monumental sculpture symposiums and five international painting meetings.

At the same time, Cuneo-Sularte, founded in 2007, carries out an exchange work that takes the name of Portimão to other quarters, establishing partnerships in countries such as Spain, China and Thailand. She was recently honored in Almeria for her cross-border artistic contribution.

With works that represent five years of artistic creation in the field of painting, the exhibition “Symposia – Painting in Dialogue” will open on February 21, at 4:00 pm, on Floor 0 of the Museum of Portimão, where it will be on display until April 19, 2026. Visitable on Tuesdays, from 14:30 pm to 18:00 pm, and from Wednesday to Sunday, between 10:00 am and 18:00 pm, the event is sponsored by the Municipality of Portimão and the institutional support of the Parishes of Portimão and Mexilhoeira Grande.
