In a true manifestation of faith that characterizes the upcoming festive season, the parishes of the municipality of Portimão will hold, between the 12th and 20th of April, Eucharists, processions, vigils and stations of the cross that invite the involvement of the local community, but also tourists. There are several Easter traditions that make up the liturgical program of Holy Week and that reinforce the importance of this celebration for Christians.
The program extends to the Mother Church of Portimão (Parish of Nossa Senhora da Conceição) and the Vicariate of Pedra Mourinha, the Church of Amparo and the chapel of Santa Catarina, in Fortaleza, (Parish of Nossa Senhora do Amparo), Mexilhoeira Grande, Church of Figueira, chapel of the Village of São José de Alcalar, Montes de Cima and Pereira (Parish of Nossa Senhora da Assunção), and to the Churches of Alvor, Penina and Montes de Alvor (Parish of the Divine Savior).
In the case of the Parish Church of Mexilhoeira Grande, the restoration works being carried out in that building require that the Holy Week celebrations take place, exceptionally, in the hall of the Paul Roth Pastoral Center.
