Long live Carnival in Portimão 25′

Portimão returns to play Carnival through a set of initiatives ranging from balls to matinees and from parades to allegorical parades, promising to entertain everyone, as this is a party of a deep popular nature.
This year under the theme “Sustainability”, the Portimão Carnival is inspired by the adoption of responsible consumption, which allows us to meet human needs both in the present and in the future, which sets the tone for the party and in which 13 floats and nine carnival groups will participate, with lots of music and revelry.
On February 18, between 10:00 am and 11:30 am, the grand opening parade of the carnival program will take place, with the participation of children from the municipality’s schools, duly masked, and the Bomboémia Group, with a concentration scheduled for Praça da República and passage through Rua Direita towards Largo 1º de Maio.
As for the Carnival balls, which stimulate the imagination of revelers, through creative masks, and are exponents of the festive dynamism of this season, they will take place in the following places and dates: Associação Cultural e Desportiva Alvorense 1º de Dezembro (March 1, dance at 21:00 pm and March 2, matinee at 18:00); Boa Esperança Atlético Clube Portimonense (March 1 and 3 dances at 9:30 pm); Mexilhoeirense Instruction and Recreation Club (March 4, matinee at 5:00 pm); Pedra Mourinha Sports and Recreation Club (March 1st and 3rd, dances at 9:30 pm); Clube União Portimonense (March 2 at 8:00 pm will take place the “Assault” and the Mask Contest and on March 3, dance at 9:00 pm); Sporting Glória ou Morte Portimonense, 15 and 22 February, dances at 21:00 and 1, 3 and 4 March, dances at 21:00); Sociedade Recreativa Figueirense (March 2, matinee, at 5:00 pm and March 4, matinee at 6:00 pm); Sociedade Vencedora Portimonense (March 1st and 3rd, dances at 9:30 pm and March 4th, matinee at 6:00 pm).
On March 4, at 15:00 pm, the Parade of Floats will take place in the Riverside Zone of Portimão, with the presence of 13 vehicles decorated with themes alluding to sustainability and which will have the participation of nine collectivities.
After the parade, the cars of the Clube de Instrução e Recreio Mexilhoeirense, of the Sociedade Recreativa Figueirense return to Mexilhoeira Grande and Figueira. The cars of the Associação Cultural e Recreativa Alvorense 1.º Dezembro and the Corpo Nacional de Escutas-Agrupamento 685 Alvor return to Alvor. In both villages, the floats representing the collectivities will animate the streets of their places of origin.
Percussion Days
To lend more rhythm to the party, Portimão hosts from February 28th to March 2nd, the fourth edition of the Percussion Days, whose diversified program, which includes several live performances in emblematic public spaces of the city, can be consulted at the following email address: https://www.dpportimao.pt/
Once the proposals for this period have been presented, Portimão invites residents and visitors to live the carnival traditions with a lot of revelry and joy, because – as the people say – “life is two days and Carnival is three”.
