VI International Painting Symposium of Portimão

March 9 - March 14
Free

Between the 9th and 14th of March, the Museum of Portimão hosts the sixth edition of the International Painting Symposium, an event that brings to the city six internationally renowned artists for an artistic reflection around “Sustainability”.

For six days, the hall of the Museum’s Auditorium and its surrounding outdoor areas will be transformed into an open studio, where the public will be able to follow, daily between 9:30 am and 6:00 pm, the creative process of painters from Azerbaijan (Rana Taghiyeva and Tural Moyufov), China (Ge Minyu), Spain (Manuel Bru), Norway (Mi Ree Abrahamsen) and Turkey (Orhan Cebrailoglu).

As in previous editions, the Symposium privileges the shared workspace. This “open studio” dynamic encourages direct dialogue and the exchange of cultural perspectives between artists and the population. The community, with special emphasis on the youngest, is encouraged to visit the space, allowing a privileged contact with the ideas and concerns that shape contemporary artistic production.

The VI International Painting Symposium culminates on Saturday, March 14, from 11:00 am, with a performative action in the outdoor space of the Museum, to which the entire community is invited. The moment will be marked by the creation of a large work by Prof. Dr. Orhan Cebrailoglu who, in a symbiosis between music and painting, will create a spontaneous live work, reflecting the sensitivity of the moment and the spirit of sharing of the event, followed by the inauguration of the exhibition of the works resulting from the six days of the event, at 4:30 pm, in the foyer of the Museum.
