Exhibition “The Breath of Portimão” at CMTG

February 6 - February 28
Free

The author, Hanna Samoilenko, exhibits watercolors of flowers and landscapes from the Atlantic.

“Flowers, beaches and sunny streets of Portugal in transparent shades of watercolor.

A walk through the light, the water and the air of the south –
where the city meets the ocean.”

“The Breath of Portimão” is a watercolor tour of the southern coast of Portugal.

Through the quiet streets bathed in sunshine, through the beaches where the wind mixes with the salty air, through the gardens where the flowers open as freely as the sea on the horizon.

This exhibition is not just about places. It’s about a state of mind: about how light touches petals, how waves reflect the sky, how the city and nature breathe at the same pace.

Here, Portimão is not geography — it’s feeling.

The artist works with transparency, layers, and fluidity of watercolor, creating a sense of air, movement, and inner stillness.

Hanna Samoilenko is a Ukrainian artist who has lived in Portimão since 2020.

“Painting is not just a profession for me — it is my essence.

Over 25 years of creative career, I have been a designer, teacher and illustrator, but it was in watercolor that I found the real magic.

My studio in Portimão is a space of inspiration where paintings with different techniques and materials and creative encounters are born.

Nature is my main source of inspiration: flowers, landscapes and the ocean that surrounds me.”
