World Bee Day is celebrated in Portimão

May 22

The Municipality of Portimão once again marks World Bee Day, which is celebrated on May 20th.
In this context, on the 22nd, which is also the date on which the International Day of Biodiversity is marked, several activities will be carried out in the municipality’s School Libraries, at the Portimão Pedagogical Farm and at the Portimão Municipal Library.

In order to value the importance of polonization for the balance of the ecosystem, the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable development, beekeeper and writer Paulo Santos presents in school libraries the book “The Adventures of Cuscas”, which explains the experience of bees in five fun stories.
Paulo Santos will also be at the Municipal Library from 9:00 pm on the 22nd, talking to those present about the importance of bees for sustainability. There will be small tastings of products based on honey.

Another highlight tonight at the Library will be the inauguration of the first Biolibrary in the Algarve, in partnership with Quinta Pedagógica!
The Bioteca is a repository of books available for exchange or gifting. It presents as its greatest originality, the fact that it has planters with species that help the pollination of plants, as they attract bees and butterflies, among other flying insects.

Take note:
On May 25th, at 11:00 am, the <span style=”color:var(–primary-text);”>Quinta Pedagógica de Portimão will be dedicated to the activity “The Life of a Beehive”, by Maria Cachucha, an initiative that will take place again at 17:00 pm on the same day at the Portimão Municipal Library.
