School Exhibition of Performing Arts

April 8 - May 30

€3.50

Throughout May, TEMPO hosts the School Performing Arts Exhibition, a celebration of young talent and artistic expression in a school context. Between the 8th and 30th, four groups in the municipality present in the Grand Auditorium the result of months of creative work.

This artistic-pedagogical project, already a local cultural reference, involves teachers, students and the community, crossing theater, music, literature and movement. With sessions for schools and the general public, the exhibition is an opportunity to discover the artistic sensibility of the new generations.

The pieces for the general public all take place at 7:00 pm in the Grand Auditorium of TEMPO and have a value of 3.50 euros.
Tickets can be purchased at
BOL or at the TEMPO box office.

9 – “The Bridge” | Júdice Fialho School Grouping

“A Ponte” is an original creation that invites the crossing – real and symbolic – between margins, ideas and experiences. Divided into three acts, the play follows a group of children who, throughout their journey, explore the value of unity, friendship and imagination.

Seven pillars – representing the columns of the bridge over the Arade River – support the stories of these characters, who play, dance, sing and reinvent the world from the stage. A sensitive and fresh proposal, where the scenic language intersects with the children’s universe in a poetic and charming way.

16 – “The Lion of the Island” | Bemposta School Grouping

The finalist students of the professional course of Performer/Actor/Actress present an adaptation of the work “O Leão da Ilha”, written by Marcelo Jardim and Leandra Vital, now in Portuguese version.

The play speaks, in a symbolic way, about the inner strength that exists in each of us. A lion represents instinct, courage, vulnerability, and dream, reflecting who we are and what we would like to be. Six young actors multiply into more than twenty characters, in a staging complemented by a choir of students and guest musician teachers.

23 – “The Day I Was Born” | Manuel Teixeira Gomes School Group<

span style=”color:rgb(108, 109, 116);”>Teatro da Caverna presents “The day I was born”, a tribute to Luís de Camões, in the year that marks the 500th anniversary of the birth of the greatest poet of the Portuguese language.

Starting from the work and the multifaceted figure of Camões, the show proposes an imaginary journey between the past and the present, raising the question: “Who would Camões be if he lived in our time?”

30 – “Root of a People” | Eng. Nuno Mergulhão School Grouping

“Root of a People” is a production that involves students from Pre-School, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Cycles of the Nuno Mergulhão Group. Through an imaginary itinerary that runs through the country from north to south – and also the islands – the show celebrates the cultural, historical and symbolic richness of Portugal.

Traditions, legends, pilgrimages, famous figures and regional curiosities come to life on stage in a dynamic and visually appealing format, which values the roots and invites a reunion with the collective identity in a playful way.
