“Portimão: Before and Now”, photography exhibition by Jonas Canelo at CMTG

March 5

Free

From March 5th, the photography exhibition “Portimão: Before and Now”, by Jonas Canelo, is visitable.

Jonas was born, raised and lived in Portimão until he was 18, when he moved to London. Later he lived in Lisbon, where he graduated in Artistic Studies from the Faculty of Letters. He has worked in video editing, film directing and animation, but photography has always been present in his life in a self-taught way, being one of his passions.

On the occasion of the pandemic, he returned to the city where he was born, captivated by the proximity of nature and the harmony that he finds in it and that inspires him.

Her main artistic motivation is to express her intrinsic restlessness, as well as to reflect on the wonders and frustrations of life. He intends, above all, that those who see his works reflect on the luck and responsibility we have for existing and being Human.

“The exhibition aims to re(tell) the history of this centennial city with a Porto à Mão, bringing memories and recollections of a past time, so that we can in the present, observe the effects not only of the passage of time, but also of the impact of our actions, giving us the freedom to re(think) what the outcome will be, in the future.”, says Jonas Canelo.

Visit this exhibition, part of the Youth March program, until March 30th. From Tuesday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturdays from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Free admission.
