FreeThe Musical Voice Laboratory/Choir is one of the 3 musical laboratories under the motto CORO-SÃO – IN PORTIMÃO, under the guidance of Margarida Mestre. This laboratory is based on a research of ORALITIES with people, recordings, literary records, revealed memories, popular wisdom, which will be the material with which scores sung by those who want to join to celebrate the centenary of the city are composed. Let’s GIVE VOICE to this place! To Blush the Skin – To Heal the Gift – To Gild the Earth – To Sing the Sound to Him.

MARGARIDA MESTRE is the conductor of several Community Choir projects throughout the country.
CARMEN MAMPEL JUNCADELLA is a conductor of the Aljezur International Choir, instrumentalist and composer.
Target audience: M/6 years old, with or without experience in voice or singing. We encourage and thank the participation of Choral Groups.

Biography Margarida Mestre
She has training in Early Childhood Education (ESEI-MU), Dance (Fórum Dança – Dance Monitors Course for the Community), Sound (Sound Design – IFICT), Music (Musical Initiation Advisors Course – Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation) and Performance that she studied and practiced in Portugal, Europe and New York where she stayed for two years with the Young Creators Scholarship.
She is a Conductor of Community Choirs, here are a few: Festival Silêncio I, II, at the Silêncio festival in Lisbon and III at the Marvila Library; the “Coral Bestial” in Viseu; the “Corações ao Alto” at the Festival TODOS Lisboa, Aljezur and Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian; “Grupo de Cantares de Espinheiro”, in Alcanena; “Oxalá” at the Circular Festival” and “Alento” in Ferreira do Alentejo; “Linguajar”, based on traditional Algarve songs, Aljezur; the “Paródica B.” in Lisbon, Bordalo Pinheiro Museum and the last Multi Cool Coral – Temporary Musical Territory”, at the invitation of the Giacometti Festival, Ferreira do Alentejo, 23. She holds a Master’s Degree in Performing Arts – Movement Theatre from E.S.T.C. in Lisbon and finished the 1st year of her PhD in Art Education at the Institute of Education/FBAUP.
The work developed within the scope of these MUSICAL LABORATORIES will be presented at different moments of the artistic program of the Centenary of the City, namely in the Burial Ceremonies associated with the MUSEU DO TEMPO project and in the Commemorations of the Day of the City of Portimão, on December 11, 2024.
Artistic program: Lavrar o Mar – Cultural Cooperative for the celebration of the Centenary of the Elevation of Portimão to City (1924-2024), under a partnership established with the Municipality of Portimão.
