The collective exhibition compiles the works of eight invited artists who participated in the V International Painting Symposium of Portimão, which took place between March 3rd and 8th, in the foyer of the Museum’s Auditorium.
The theme “Sustainable Landscapes” gave, this year, other reasons for reflection at the Portimão International Painting Symposium. Sustainability, Nature, coexistence with Humanity, the balance between Humanity and Nature are just some of the bases from which artists started their creative process.
The painters Martin Ševčovič, artist and associate university professor, born in Slovakia, researcher María Valdés, from Spain, Solongo Tseekhuu, member of the Union of Mongolian Artists, Luka Radojevic, executive member of the International Sculpture Symposia Alliance, from Montenegro, Krzysztof Molenda, professor at the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts, Poland, Sarah Miulescu, Romania, in addition to the Portuguese, Veloso, a professor of fine arts with a degree from the School of Education of Coimbra, and Gonçalo Condeixa, a degree in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, made their works known and boosted dialogue and laboratory research to produce a unique work. In this context, creative freedom and dialogue between the artist and his work were emphasized, where the different cultural, formative and generational perspectives of the participants are highlighted.
The Portimão International Painting Symposium was promoted by the Cuneo Cultural Association – Sularte, curated by Arlindo Arez, and co-produced by Paulo Quaresma. It had the Museum of Portimão as a partner entity and the institutional support of the Municipality of Portimão.
