“The Algarve of Asta and Luís de Almeida d’Eça” is a photography exhibition organized by the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) to make known the artistic work that the couple of photographers developed in the 1960s and 1980s, helping to create the tourist imaginary of the region that had just emerged to the world. As part of the celebrations of the 55th anniversary of the RTA, the exhibition will be on tour through several municipalities in the Algarve until March 2026.
The exhibition displays emblematic images originally used in promotional campaigns in the region, portraying landscapes, customs, crafts and people that reveal both the scenic beauty and the cultural authenticity of the Algarve.
For this exhibition, the photographs taken by the couple Asta and Luís de Almeida d’Eça gain new dimensions: they are reproduced in more than 20 panels that are one and a half metres high and one metres wide.
