This year’s program includes three concerts with a varied program linked to the world of percussion: traditional, jazz and contemporary music. The conversation will be mediated by the artistic direction of the festival, with the participation of festival artists and guest programmers, such as Tiago Ferreira (FIPA – North Percussion Festival) and Diana Ferreira (FIP – Festival Itinerante de Percussion).
From a pedagogical perspective and direct involvement with the community, the festival also offers a training offer for children and young people with two masterclasses: Vincent Houdijk (“The Inner Ear”, vibraphone) and Iago Fernández (Drums), as well as three percussion workshops with the musicians Tiago Manuel Soares (adufe and granolanholas), Simantra Grupo de Percussion (percussion with recycled waste) and Sérgio Almeida (African percussion).
The most festive and relaxed tone is ensured with the holding of a jam session at Sociedade Vencedora Portimonense on the opening day of the festival, in collaboration with O Eixo do Jazz Ensemble, the Integrated Music Course and the Jazz Instrumental Course of the Agrupamento de Escolas. from Bemposta.
And yet, to top off this wide offer, two awareness actions in the form of a parade in public space with Bomboémia (University of Minho Percussion Group) who return to Portimão to fill the city’s streets with colour, sound and rhythm.
