“100 Years, 100 Sardines” on display at the Municipal Market

In the new multipurpose space of the Market, the exhibition “100 Years, 100 Sardines” was inaugurated, which brings together the winning works within the scope of the contest “are you the Picasso of Sardines?”.

Each sardine reflects Portimão’s relationship with fishing, the canning industry and the sea, celebrating a tradition that has shaped the city, in a creative and collaborative tribute that involved 50 invited artists and as many citizens.

In this exhibition, 100 sardines are on display, each with a unique design, representing the diversity and innovative spirit of Portimão, which will later be transferred to tiles and installed on building facades throughout the municipality, in order to create an open-air museum that will serve as a tourist route.
